Used Hyperbaric Chamber Inspection Checklist
Review records, identity, condition, service support, delivery, and installation before buying a used chamber.

A used chamber assessment should prioritize evidence and records over photographs. Images may help identify visible features, but they cannot confirm equipment identity, operating history, condition, documentation, service support, or the work needed to relocate and recommission a chamber for a new site.
Verify identity and documentation
Confirm the manufacturer, model, serial number, configuration, age, ownership status, and available equipment documentation. Gather manuals, drawings, prior inspections, service records, modification history, and any documentation that describes the unit’s current configuration. Resolve inconsistencies before considering the equipment for a project.
Review service history and supportability
Ask what preventive work, repairs, component replacements, testing, and technical interventions have been recorded. Confirm whether parts, qualified service, technical documentation, and operational support remain available for the exact equipment. The future support path matters as much as the equipment’s apparent condition today.
Arrange a qualified physical evaluation
Arrange a physical evaluation by appropriately qualified personnel using the applicable equipment documentation and project requirements. The evaluation should address visible condition, installed components, records, service needs, missing items, and any questions that photographs cannot answer. Document findings and the basis for any recommended next steps.
Model relocation and recommissioning
Assess the full relocation scope: removal, packaging, freight, unloading, delivery route, rigging, site preparation, installation, testing, commissioning, training, and approvals. A chamber that is available for purchase may still require significant coordination before it can be placed into a new operating environment.
