Purchase price alone does not determine value. A chamber option should be evaluated as a complete project scope that includes identity, condition, documentation, supportability, site requirements, delivery, installation, commissioning, and the resources needed to operate responsibly over time.

New equipment

New equipment may offer the clearest documentation path, current manufacturer support, defined warranty coverage, and alignment with a current installation plan. Confirm what is included in the equipment package, what the warranty covers, what site work is required, and how commissioning, training, and service will be coordinated.

Refurbished equipment

Refurbished equipment can vary substantially by source, scope of work, records, replacement parts, testing, warranty, and available support. Ask for a clear description of what was inspected, repaired, replaced, tested, and documented. A meaningful comparison requires understanding both the condition of the equipment and the scope behind the refurbishment.

Used equipment

Used equipment should be assessed through evidence, not assumptions. Verify its identity, age, configuration, ownership history, documentation, maintenance records, condition, available parts, and service pathway. Photographs and a stated price are not a complete basis for determining whether a chamber can be relocated, recommissioned, and supported for the intended program.

Compare total scope

Compare each option against the same project requirements: equipment condition, documentation, warranty or support terms, parts availability, delivery route, installation work, commissioning, training, inspections, and ongoing service. The best path is the one that fits the actual program, site, responsibilities, and risk tolerance.
